Alé, het lijkt op een vulinstallatie voor een stoomlocomotief maar hoewel Hasselt niet bovenaan het prioriteitenlijstje van de NMBS staat, rijdt er toch al een tijdje geen stoomtrein meer

Dat lijkt mij een waterleiding waarmee men het water op de rijtuigen kan aanvullen. Het water voor wc en wastafel.

Dat gebeurt in bundel E, deze oude watervoorziening heb ik in jaren niet meer weten gebruiken.

Er is wel meer infrastructuur die niet meer in gebruik is bij het spoor

This water pipe was there to refill the Vapor-Clarkson water boiler in the diesel locomotives, used for vapor-warming of the passenger trains.
It needed a specially treated water to avoid formation of limestone deposits in the boiler. The name of the product mixed with water was "Diskro",
the same that was used before with steam locomotives. It was in use until AR41s replaced the M2 rakes on line 15 to Mol. There are still some stations
where this equipment has not been dismantled yet. There must normally be a metal plate affixed to it with a written mention that this is specially treated water, not suitable for human consumption. I remember the same pipes installed at the end of the platforms 9/10 and 11/12 in Charleroi, to refill the
boilers of the locos that hauled the M1, and later M2, push-pull trains to Mariembourg.

Inderdaad, hier is als ik het goed zie die aansluiting voor de stoomverwarming te zien, achter de oude waterkraan voor de stoomlocomotieven.
