Lille - Comines

Apologies for posting in English but this may be of interest as the line is just over the Frontier in Northern France.
Lille - Comines
This 14km branch line closes with timetable change in December.
The last passenger trains should be on Saturday 14th December 2019.
844013 12.22 Lille - Comines
844016 13.06 Comines - Lille
The line was opened on 15th June 1876 by the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord. It originally continued to Comines, Belgium via a bridge over the Lys. Cross border passenger traffic stopped in 1955 and the line closed completely on 1st June 1963.
Information on the French section of line is here - https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_de_ ... nes-France .

Why is the line closing in a populated part of France?
The line is single track with no passing places and works on a one engine in steam basis. The service is poor with only three return journeys a day at unattractive times. The line is quite rural in places. Due to the poor condition of the track the line speed has been reduced to 40 kph / 25 mph. So to your average passenger it will not only be slow but is perceptively slow as well.
Monday to Friday Service
Lille 07:19 / Comines 07:52
Comines 08:01 / Lille 08:36
Lille 16:24 / Comines 16:58
Comines 17:08 / Lille 17:40
Lille 17:50 / Comines 18:26
Comines 18:53 / Lille 19:25
Saturday Service
Lille 07:19 / Comines 07:52
Comines 08:01 / Lille 08:36
Lille 12:22 / Comines 12:56
Comines 13:06 / Lille 13:34
No Sunday Service
There is a competing bus route between Comines and Lille which offers a much better service. Lianes 90 runs from Comines Town Hall to Lille Regional Headquarters. The bus service runs daily from 6 am to 1 a.m. with buses every 25 to 30 minutes during off-peak hours and every 15 minutes during rush hour. So the train has lost out.
There are four Saturdays left where you can go and take pictures.
