Area of Use BE only:
RST: (4) For the operation of the Velaro MS with the 1600 mm AC-pantograph(s) raised, and when running on lines with 25 kV AC power supply systems, the following conditions and limits of use apply:
a) In single traction only 1 pantograph may be used under the following conditions:
a1) The maximum speed for low contact wire height (defined as between 5,0 to 5,3 m) is limited to 300km/h.
a2) The maximum speed for high contact wire height (defined as between 5,5 to 5,75 m) is limited to 130km/h.
b) In double traction only the pantograph configurations in which the pantographs are raised at position 1 and 3, position 2 and 4 and position 1 and 4 may be used under the following conditions:
b1) In double traction only the pantograph configurations in which the pantographs are raised at position 1 and 3, position 2 and 4 and position 1 and 4 may be used under the following conditions:
b2) The maximum speed for high contact wire height (defined as between 5,5 to 5,75 m) is limited to 130km/h
For the emergency configuration (all pantographs for the corresponding active voltage system raised), running with speeds higher than 100 km/h is not allowed.
5) For the operation of the Velaro MS with the 1950 mm DC pantograph(s) raised, and when running on lines with 3,0 kV DC power supply systems, the following conditions and limits of use apply:
a) Since the evidence for the interaction pantograph-overhead contact line is given for low contact wire heights (defined as between 5,0 to 5,3 m) only, the Velaro MS is not allowed to run on lines with high contact wire heights (defined as be-tween 5,5 to 5,75 m).
b) in normal operation running with speeds higher than 200 km/h is not allowed.
c) For the emergency configurations in single and double traction running with speeds higher than 160 km/h is not allowed.
7) 6.2.3.4 Ballast flight:
The following restriction applies on the Belgian railway network: If the BR 408 is in counter-track operation, the speed is limited to 280 km/h.

8.4.2.1.3 Interference current under the vehicle (In particular: RoSto § 4.2.3.3, requirement R5.2): As part of the route compatibility check, the operator must check whether track circuits with the frequency band 4650- 6360 Hz (e.g. FTGS46) are installed on the 25 kV routes to be used. If this is the case, then in double traction and only in the event of failure of traction converter(s), the double traction must be brought to an operating state in which a maximum of 4 traction converters are active.
